Reimbursement Specialist - Assistant

Job Summary:
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Reimbursement Specialist to join our Haven Nursing Center administrative team! The Assistant Reimbursement Specialist is an essential member of the administrative team, responsible for assisting with all non-clinical, reimbursement functions related to providing services for nursing home residents, patients and their families. The assistant reimbursement specialist is responsible for assisting with all facets of medical billing and accounts receivable management at Haven Nursing Center.

Duties include:
• Assist with collecting & reviewing financial documentation for the Medicaid Applications
• Meeting with residents/families to discuss their financial obligations
• Entry of census information into clinical software
• Assist with monitoring and distributing resident funds
• Assist with insurance authorization process
• Assist with entering data, such as new resident information, and discharge and insurance information, and ensuring that total data match clinical data
• Assist with sending out bills, posting Medicaid and Medicare remittance, entering diagnosis codes, and posting ancillary billing services
• Assist with following up on unpaid claims to ensure proper financial reimbursement from insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid
• Assist with billing and collecting private pay and resident contribution
• Assist with the billing transactions with payer sources
• Assist with the submission of claims, collections, and other accounts receivable functions of the nursing home
• Assist in monitoring, collecting and analyzing billing data to assess accuracy and integrity
• Assist with appealing insurance denials for payments, and making follow up calls
• Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable standards rules, regulations and systems of internal control
• Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial reports
• Other duties as required based on facilities needs

Minimum Qualifications:
• 2 years of prior experience in billing in a skilled nursing facility, hospital, home health or other post-acute healthcare setting
• Knowledge and Understanding of standard CPT, HCPCS, and ICD10 coding
• Healthcare billing experience, applying knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, third party insurance´s and private pay
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and other payer guidelines and systems
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of clientele who have various levels of knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of the reimbursement function
• Proficiency with computer programs
• Ability to review, analyze and organize financial information

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in nursing homes or post-acute care is a strong plus
• Knowledge of Medicaid healtcare benefits and qualification requirements
• Understanding and compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Experience American HealthTech, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• A reliable, self-starter who has the ability to work independently and learn quickly

Physical Requirements:
Perform a variety of movements throughout the day such as walking, standing, sitting, bending, twisting, stooping, lifting, carrying, grasping, reaching, pushing and pulling

• A criminal background check will be conducted on all finalists for this position. Finalists must pass the background check
• Tuberculosis screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment
